What is 2600?

"2600" is an old code word among telephone hackers. It refers to the long distance carrier frequency 2600 Hz. In 1984, 2600 Magazine took it from the telephone world and used it to mean all hackers. Hackers being people who like to take things apart to see how they work, not the malicious monsters you hear about from the media, but highly creative and curious engineers from a variety of fields.

What is North Carolina 2600?

NC2600 is an alliance of several local 2600 meetings. Each month we gather in Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, and Greensboro to talk about the things that interest us, mainly technology, but alot of other subjects as well.
